Stone engraving machine is different from other types of engraving machine, because the design and production of this stone is more difficult than other materials, so it has higher configuration requirements and operation skills. When using a stone engraving machine, layered carving is commonly used. Without a little skill, I can't talk nonsense. Today, I will give a detailed introduction to layered carving techniques.

The stone carving is generally very large, and the flat carving looks closer to the three-dimensional carving, so this requires the depth of the carving to be very large, and the maximum cutting depth of the cutter of the engraving machine is limited. Furthermore, the depth of the carving determined by the stone material cannot be Too deep, otherwise it is easy to damage the tool and equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to use layered carving.

Under normal circumstances, we generate the model from the image, open the engraving pattern, and set the size of the relief and the depth of the relief. The depth here refers to the total depth of the relief. After setting, we click on the 3D rendering to preview the relief effect. The next step is to generate the tool path. Select "Machining relief", first select the tool, pay special attention here, there is a "cutting step" in the tool editing parameters, this value is the distance of the lower knife in each layer, and can be set according to the hardness of the material and the quality of the tool set. There is a "multi-z axis layer cutting" under the tool selection, remember to check the back check box when doing layering. Enter the depth of the first layer you want to engrave in the z-axis height of the first path, and the value is a negative number; the Z-axis height of the last path only needs to enter the total depth of the relief, and the value is also a negative value. The remaining settings are the same as those that do not require layered carving.

After all are set up, we can simulate the tool path, we can see that the generated path is calculated in layers. Import the path into the control system of the stone engraving machine to perform layered processing.
